Mi nombre es Julio Rubio. Soy un emprendedor, curioso por naturalezay con ADN de mejora continua en todos los proyectos en los que trabajo. Vengo del sector de la automoción, donde pasé los últimos 5 años como Gerente de Ventas de la marca Hyundai. Al mismo tiempo que trabajé en el mundo de la automoción decidí emprender junto con mis socios, en Galaxy Gaming Center, y posteriormente me ha llevado asacar hace unos meses una startup nueva, Team Galaga, un club deesports con un área de creación de contenido. Y por último, hace unos meses entré a formar parte de una empresa del mundo del diseño de interiores como Director de expansión e innovación.

My name is Julio Rubio. I’m an entrepreneur, curious by nature and with a coded DNA to keep on improving and boosting all the projects I'm involved with. I come from the automotive industry, were I performed as Sales Manager in Hyundai brand. At the same period I was working in automotive, I decided to start a new business with my associates, Galaxy Gaming Center. Afterwards, the projects shunted to the born of a new startup, Team Galaga: a eSports club with a content creation area. And last, but not least, a few months ago I’ve joined a Interior Design company as Director of Expansion and Innovation.

How did you get introduced to and involved with coworking?

Comenzamos con Galaxy Gaming Center en Noviembre de 2019, comoun concepto de centro de entretenimiento para los más jóvenes condiferentes zonas, desde Pcs Gaming, a Simuladores de conducción,Realidad virtual y zona de consolas. 3 meses después de abrir el centrollegó la pandemia y el resto es historia. Hemos estado en una continua adaptación y reinvención, diría casi semanal desde que empezamos. Yes aquí donde surge la idea, después de analizar el mercado en Gran Canaria y nuevamente adaptarnos a un mercado que está en alza y quecada vez veremos más por nuestra isla.

We’ve started with Galaxy Gaming Center back in November 2019, as a concept of a entertainment center for eSports lovers with different areas, from high specialized gaming Pcs to Driving Simulation, Virtual Reality and Videogames area. After 3 months of its opening, the pandemic broke out and the rest is History. This situation forced us to keep on reinventing and adapting our newborn project and in this very moment is where the idea came up, after analyzing a rising market that we will see
more and more around our island.

You also operate the popular Galaxy Gaming centre at the same location. Please tell us more about it.

Si, al final esto es algo que hemos puesto en marcha hará unos meses yque aún estamos en proceso de aprendizaje y de validación. Por las circunstancias del Covid, desde hace ya cerca de 6 meses, decidimos cerrar la parte relacionada con el ocio y el entretenimiento hasta que no tengamos las condiciones adecuadas para que la actividad de nuestro centro suponga un riesgo para los más jóvenes y su entorno. Es por eso que no hemos tenido tiempo de poner en marcha ambas ofertas simultáneamente.

Yes, and we’ve started to develop the coworking project just a few months ago andit’s on its process to be consolidated. Due to the Covid-19 circumstances, from almost 6 months ago, we’ve decided to close the recreative area until we until the ending of the current sanitary restrictions. That’s why we couldn’t launch the new service simultaneously with our regular Gaming offer.

What should people expect when they visit galaxy Gaming centre’s coworking space?

Un coworking completamente diferente y único al que habían estado anteriormente. Galaxy Gaming Coworking es un espacio dónde puedes llevar tu creatividad, tu concentración o tu networking a otro nivel. Poder estar trabajando y que sin salir del mismo Pc, puedas ponerte a los mandos de un simulador y pilotar un avión o hacer networking en nuestra cafetería, es algo que sólo puedes hacer en un espacio como el nuestro en Canarias.

An unique and a new concept of coworking that we’re used to know. Galaxy Gaming Coworking is a space where you can take your creativity, focus or networking to another level. Being able to work and without leaving the same device, switching to the commands of a simulator and drive a plane or being able to network in our coffee place are experiences that make the difference in Canary Islands.

Are all you coworking customers gamers or do you have people from other professions also working out of your space.

De momento estamos en una fase dónde estamos recibiendo solicitudes para comenzar a trabajar en nuestro coworking, pero comentábamos al principio, esto está empezando y con la situación de Covid, hasta no tener un número mínimo de Inscripciones, lo mantendremos cerrado.

By the moment, we’re in a stage where we’re receiving inquiries, nonetheless, as we’ve mentioned before, we’re just starting and with the Covid situation, the facilities are going to be temporarily closed until we have a considerable minimum of enrollments.

You are in an exotic location frequented by tourists. Are tourists welcome and do you offer a temporary desk and meeting room hiring options?

Por supuesto, nuestro Coworking está enfocado tanto para personas que residan en Canarias como para turistas. De hecho, de momento, el mayor interés viene por parte de gente de fuera de Canarias. Ofrecemos espacios por hora, día, mes o anual. Nos adaptamos a las necesidades de cada cliente y ofrecemos una amplia variedad de opciones para que sea el cliente el que decida exactamente lo que más le interese. Porsupuesto, además ofrecemos salas de reuniones para videoconferencias, reuniones de equipo o incluso charlas.

Of course. Our Coworking is contemplated both for people who live in our island and for digital nomads or tourists. In fact, most of our inquiries are coming from people from abroad. We offer spaces used per hour, day, month or year. We adapt our services individually according to the needs of the user. And of course, we offer conferences and meeting rooms.

Can people just walk in or do they have to book in advance?

En este momento lo estamos haciendo mediante reserva de manera que cuando lleguemos a ese número mínimo, lo abriremos, y a partir de ahí y siempre que la situación de pandemia lo permita, mantendremos ambas opciones. Evidentemente siempre tendrá prioridad aquellas personas que hayan reservado previamente o pagado su cuota con anterioridad, pero permitiremos que se pueda venir el mismo día y acceder al centro.

By the moment, we’re responding the enrollments by previous reservation so we can start the activity once we reach our minimum users required. Beginning with this premise and as long as the Covid situation allows it, we would contemplate both options. Logically, all those who have enrolled in advance will have preference, but we look forward to letting the users access the same day.

Is there a community of people who work out of coworking spaces in Mesa y Lopez?

Si. Realmente hay varios Coworking por la zona de Mesa y López que cuentan con espacios también realmente acogedores. Al final del día, el valor diferencial de Galaxy Gaming con respecto a otros coworking de la zona es la oferta de entretenimiento que ponemos a disposición de nuestros clientes, una cafetería integrada en el mismo espacio del coworking de manera que permite que se pueda producir networking de manera muy fácil y que contamos con espacio para reuniones, charlas o team building.

Yes. There are spaces very interesting around Mesa y Lopez zone as well as we are. But, at the end of the day, the difference that Galaxy Gaming make in comparison with other coworkings is the combination of the same space with the entertainment offer, a private coffee place integrated, and the provision of meeting rooms.
